Weddings at

St Philips and All Saints

Firstly, congratulations on your engagement!  We are delighted that you have chosen one our churches in which to get married.

If you are not a resident in the parish but have links with either Church please contact us and we would be happy to discuss this with you.

There may be many reasons why you have chosen to hold your ceremony in one of our churches, but – should you need more – here are some of ours:

  • The Churches in this parish sit in the centre of the historic town of Maidstone. Each church has its own character and history, and by holding your ceremony there, you weave their story and the story of all the other families over the centuries who have married here, with your own.

  • We are in easy distance of a number of venues for holding the rest of your celebration.

  • Because our buildings have been serving their communities for a very long time, as places of prayer, contemplation and celebration, they have an atmosphere that gives your ceremony a solemnity that is hard to match.

  • In particular, getting married in Church adds another dimension of spirituality and community to your service.

  • The ‘Qualifying Connection’ you need to have, or form, links you to this place and its people in a very special way. You can keep this link going all your life, if you choose.

  • While the bones of the ceremony are fixed, in a Church of England wedding, there are many ways you can make the service your own, with your choice of hymns, music and readings, and other touches that involve your family and friends in the service.

  • While every organisation needs funds to keep going, and every venue business is there because they love what they do, we are not in it for the money, but because we believe marriage says something unique about who we are as human beings, created by a loving God. We want to help you arrange a service that speaks powerfully about all that your marriage can be, and to support you “now and in the years to come”.

While at the heart of your wedding day is the simplest of events – and one of the oldest – in that you are declaring and celebrating your love for and commitment to each other, you will likely have already discovered that getting married is full of complicated logistics and legalities. We will help you navigate these as best we can. It’s also worth checking out the Church of England website, which is full of useful advice and tips. However, if you have any other questions, or if anything remains unclear, please do not hesitate to contact us at office.allsaintsmaidstone@gmail.com
